FAVORITE FREEWARE (MOSTLY FOR WINDOWS 10/11)
DO NOT INSTALL MCAFEE ANTIVIRUS!  You get nagged with popups about updates, and It is very difficult to un-install  (REVO UNINSTALLER does
not work because McAfee somehow prevents itself  from being detected).

Some apps that work on Win7 do not work on Win10. However, there is a possible work around:
(1) Make sure all unsuccessful previous attempts are deleted, using  REVO UNINSTALLER to delete ALL associated files.
(2) Download from the usual source. This will hopefully save the appropriate software in the default Win10 directory ("This PC/Downloads").
(3) Locate (unzip if necessary) the exe file.
(4) Right click the exe file and select properties
(5) Select compatability
(6) Select Win7 as the new OS in the "run this in ..." (or whatever OS you had the original app installed in)
(7) Select "run"
(8) Go from there.
(9) Screw around until you get what you want, then save time later by minimizing the active app to the task bar and launch from there for
future use. Otherwise you may have to jump through all the hoops again, although selecting the appropriate app from the icon after stating it
in the "Type here to search "  at the bottom left of the Win10 screen may work (appearance of the icon will confirm correct conversion to Win10).

For some freeware apps be careful about the listings - some of them do not provide clean downloads without also downloading and installing other
(probably nefarious) apps. If this happens use REVO UNINSTALLER to uninstall them and hope that no permanent damage has occurred.

WARNINGS:
    (1) Some freeware sites have links to other apps and even malware, and it is increasingly difficult to find the desired icon to click on, sometimes
resulting in the inadvertant installation of malware if you are not careful. Once again the easiest way to test the latter is to use REVO UNINSTALLER
to identify and remove them. To reduce the probability of this happening always select 'expert' (or similar) for downloading, then select 'unwanted',
'decline', or 'skip' etc for each page of the selection process (these icons are sometimes shown in a gray color to give the illusion that they are inactive).
NEVER click on the 'Next' or similar icon before checking that other apps are not selected.
   (2) Sometimes 'freeware' is free only for a limited time or is a trial version of payware.
   (3) HEADS UP: Commercial programmers are increasingly sophisticated at preventing freeware from running on commercial platforms such as Windows10/11.
Ergo not all the freeware listed below will work - it is impossible to keep up with all the ruses.
